Day 9: Switching It Up

We normally check the snow report at 7am to make a decision whether to wake up and which mountain to head towards.  This morning I rolled over to see the first 0" snow report since we've been here and not just at Vail, but Beaver Creek, Keystone, Breckenridge, and ABasin too.  As you can imagine, I was not quick getting up and passed out again until 11am, especially since this was Whitt's last day and he wasn't skiing.  It's been great having Whitt here, and we've had great conditions so it's hard to complain about the lack of snow.  Doug and I finally mobilized after lunch and decided to swap gear: Doug on the board and myself on skis.  Ironically, we were meet by snow flurries just as we arrived at the Cascade Village lift.  Getting our equipment adjusted properly was a struggle and I'm pretty sure the lifties gave each other joking looks as we stumbled onto the chair.  The first couple runs must have been a hilarious sight (pics after the jump), but we progressed quickly within half an hour.  I can't speak for Doug, but I felt ready to start doing backflips off the China Bowl cliffs by 3:30....too bad the lifts were closed.

The afternoon flurries are supposed to continue through the night and into tomorrow.  Hopefully we'll have some fresh snow for tomorrow.  My leg is starting to feel better, the bruise is starting to surface, and I'm ready to start charging trees again.
