Day 3: Getting Our Ski Legs Back

We woke up this bright and early this morning to find a fresh inch covering the valley.  After making some eggs, bacon, and bagels, we finished packing up our gear and hopped on the bus and headed to Vail's Lionshead Village.  To our surprise the gondola line was non-existent, and within 10 minutes were at the top of the front-side.  Here's a picture of the view of the first chair.

About halfway down our first run, Doug and I stopped looking at each other.  "Are your legs shot?.. Yeah, let's just call it a day and hit the hot tub."  The two days of driving took a toll on our bodies, but we powered through it and our legs loosened up.  The morning was full of bluebird skies and groomers runs on the frontside.  We headed over to Two Elk lodge for some lunch, pulling our sandwiches out of our backpacks.....

We still have some kinks to workout.  In the afternoon, we made our way over to the China Bowl and found a couple pow stashes hidden in the trees leftover from the 9" storm two days ago.  Doug's camera was acting up, so we don't have any pictures to show for it.  About 6 weeks ago, I sprained my knee badly playing lacrosse causing much anxiety up about the trip.  I'm thrilled to say that it held up quite well.  After an almost full day of skiing, we hit the daily apres-ski hot tub session with Whitt Kelly, who had just arrived from the Denver Airport.  Ready for bed, I'm looking out the window to some snow showers which will hopefully provide a nice topper for tomorrows skiing.  A large storm is still in the outlook developing in California with potential to drop a couple feet late this weekend.  Here's a couple more photos of the pad...
